Born in 1940 in Oakland, CA, Daniel Abdal-Hayy Moore had his first book of poems, Dawn Visions, published by Lawrence Ferlinghetti of City Lights Books, San Francisco, in 1964, and the second in 1972, Burnt Heart/Ode to the War Dead. He became a Sufi Muslim in 1970, performed the Hajj in 1972, and lived and traveled throughout Morocco, Spain, Algeria and Nigeria, landing in California and publishing The Desert is the Only Way Out, and Chronicles of Akhira in the early 80s (Zilzal Press). Residing in Philadelphia since 1990, in 1996 he published The Ramadan Sonnets (Jusoor/City Lights), and in 2002, The Blind Beekeeper (Jusoor/Syracuse University Press). In 2011, 2012 and 2014 he was a winner of the Nazim Hikmet Prize for Poetry. In 2013 he won an American Book Award, and in 2013 and 2014 was listed among The 500 Most Influential Muslims for his poetry.

Rachel Milligan is the author of Queen Carrion, chosen by Mary Ruefle as a finalist in the 2015 BOAAT Summer Chapbook competition, forthcoming in Summer 2016. She is a graduate of Temple University and the Iowa Writers’ Workshop. Her work can be found in The Iowa Review, bedfellows, smoking glue gun, and elsewhere.

Kirwyn Sutherland is the author of X: A Mistape (2013) and X: A Mixtape Re-mastered (Two Pens & Lint, 2014). Kirwyn has featured at several open and slam venues in Philadelphia, Baltimore, New York, Delaware and Detroit. He was one of five poets to represent Philadelphia at the 2015 National Poetry Slam. He participated in workshop/residencies at Cave Canem, Poet’s House, Pearlstein Art Gallery, Philadelphia Sculpture Gym, and Lincoln University.

Jenn McCreary is a Philadelphia poet, the editrix of ixnay press, charmer of snakes & wrangler of twins. She was a 2013 Pew Fellow in the Arts for Poetry & may or may not be reading in clownface.
